Tatiana owns a private members' club in Berlin where the rules are posted at the door. Composed, exacting and unexpectedly kind, she believes that control is a gift only if both people choose it.

She was born near Saint Petersburg, trained as a ballet instructor and arrived in Germany at twenty-six with a coat, a passport and a talent for discipline. 'We had different rules,' she says, pouring tea.
